22 May 2014 – Playtech, the international designer, developer and licensor of software and services for the online, mobile, TV and land-based gaming industry, is proud to announce the appointment of Shay Segev as the Chief Executive Officer of its Retail arm operated by its subsidiary, Videobet.
Playtech’s Retail offering is built on Videobet’s technology, a world leader in server based gaming with 30,000 VLT machines and over 50 casino management systems through Playtech’s acquisition of Intelligent Gaming. Videobet’s technology is widely used in UK betting shops such as Coral and Ladbrokes. The offering has recently been revamped to include a new generation floor management system which has already been installed in more than 60 casinos. Videobet’s technology will be used to establish a connection across retail and online operations and will connect leading sports betting and lottery products to local betting shop while streaming the same online content through Playtech’s other platforms such as web and mobile.
With this new appointment, Playtech reinforces its commitment to innovation, allowing bricks and mortar gaming businesses to connect to the digital mobile world and enjoy growth. Playtech Retail division is focused on providing unified solution between mobile and retail experience, resulting in a full turnkey solution of a single ecosystem. The development will mobilise the link between betting shops, lotteries and gaming floors with online gaming, creating a truly seamless experience for players across all channels. Videobet will allow bricks and mortar businesses to grow beyond their physical locale and expand to new revenue opportunities.
Shay joined Playtech in 2006 as the COO of Videobet and was appointed as the COO of Playtech in 2011. His career is spanning in the gaming industry across both retail and online gaming as an executive manager focusing on innovation and growth. Under his previous roles, Shay has rolled out 25,000 Videobet machines in UK betting shops and led many of Playtech’s online initiatives. Shay has recently joined the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) as a board member contributing Playtech’s in multi-channel gaming experience.
